The AMD AM5 Ryzen 7000 series is the cheapest 3D V-Cache processor in the AMD AM5 Ryzen 7000 series available only in the US and China. The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D uses the Zen 4 architecture with 6 cores and 12 threads, and stacks up to 96 MB of L3 cache on top of a single CCD through the 3D V-Cache packaging technology to create the best price/performance ratio of the gaming processor. This time, I also tested the performance with NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti Founders Edition 8GB graphics card and Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 RGB memory!

AM5 Hexa-Core X3D Entry Level AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D Processor Unboxing!

The Zen 4 (codename: Raphael) architecture AM5 Ryzen 7000 Series launched its flagship and high-end 3D V-Cache processors AMD Ryzen 7950X3D, 7900X3D, 7800X3D in Q1 2023, especially the Ryzen 7 7800X3D which replaces the previous generation of AM4. Ryzen 7 7800X3D replaces the previous generation AM4 Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which has become the best choice for PC DIY gamers to build a gaming PC, but how much are you willing to spend on the processor for a gaming PC?

The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D processor to be unboxed is a 6-core, 12-threaded processor with a 96 MB L3 cache, also using the TSMC 5nm FinFET process; the I/O Die is a TSMC 6nm FinFET process, and the maximum operating temperature (Tjmax) is only 89°C. The processor in this unboxing was purchased by the author's friend, aka Lin Kou, from Micro Center in the U.S. The total cost including shipping and tax is US$323.24+32.9=356.14, which is almost NT$11,396 at 1:32, which is about the same as a second-hand 7800X3D from the Taiwan market (provided that someone is willing to sell it), so it might be cheaper to buy the 7600X3D from China. Maybe it's cheaper to buy the 7600X3D from China?

The 7600X3D, which is a price-performance model, is less sophisticated than the 7800X3D in terms of inner box packaging. There is only a plastic box to protect the processor body, and there is no complimentary cooler in the inner box for gamers to purchase on their own. However, the author suggests that buying the AMD Wraith Prism Ghost cooler online is enough for you to use it, after all, the pre-set TDP is marked as 65W, which is more or less the same as the pre-set TDP. The default TDP is 65W, which is more or less the same, so it's more than enough.

The memory used in this test with 7600X3D is Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 RGB 2X16GB 6800 MT/s with AMD EXPO Profile (EXtended Profiles for Overclocking) and Intel XMP 3.0 (Extreme Memory Profile), this test will use the 6800MT/s 34-45-45-90 1.4V of EXPO Profile. AMD R5 7600X3D Performance Test!

In addition to testing the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D with 6 Cores 12 Threads, the author also borrowed the R7 7800X3D to see how much difference there is, and also prepared a comparison between the 7600X, which is also an R5, and the 9600X, which is a new-generation product. The R9 7900 and the Intel Core i9-14900KS are different in price and positioning, so it's good to take a look at them for reference.

The motherboard is a GIGABYTE B650I AORUS ULTRA and the BIOS has been updated to the F33b version, the memory is a Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 RGB 2X16GB 6800 MT/s 16GBx2 with EXPO 1 turned on, and the graphics card is a more in line with the budget of the 7600X3D. In terms of price, consumers are usually more likely to choose the NVIDIA RTX 4060Ti FE 8GB graphics card instead of the RTX 4090, which costs nearly six times more than the processor, all for the sake of conforming to the logic of the list (not that I can't afford the 4090 at all).

For the platform settings, the default AMD PBO Auto was maintained during testing, while the cooler was manually set to run at full speed with the PUMP and fan.

Next up, the 3DMark series, one of the most benchmarks for gaming scores, was used to compare the theoretical results of the same graphics platform with different processors through a series of tests with different picture quality and different GPU APIs.

3DMark CPU Profile This test will measure the performance of MAX, 16, 8, 4, 2 and 1 threads respectively, while the performance of 16 threads and above is more for 3D rendering or audio/video professional work, most of the mainstream DirectX 12 games can refer to the score of 8 threads, while the score of 4 and 2 threads are related to the old games developed with DirectX 9.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D Three FPS-type gaming games are tested.

Three iconic games have been selected for testing in the FPS gaming category.Battle Attack 2_Overwatch 2, _Rainbow Six: Operation Siege_Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and theApex LegendsThe APEX is set to the "highest" setting in the game, and the APEX is set to the maximum frame rate of 144 fps by default, so manually input the code to the maximum of 300 fps.

Considering that most players pursue the most beautiful screen performance rather than the highest frame rate performance when playing 3A masterpiece games, the author also set the built-in "Highest" option for texture effects in AAA games, and chose "Highest" and DLSS 3-quality quality mode for light tracking settings to obtain a certain degree of frame rate enhancement while maintaining the screen performance as much as possible, and the same for frame rate collection. The frame rate is also collected by using software recording average (AVG).

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D Processor Temperature and Power Consumption Tests

The test platform was set up on an indoor barebones test platform, and the cooler was set to run at full speed for CPU temperature and power consumption tests. The author used Cinebench 2024 (Multi Core_one round), AIDA64 FPU, AIDA64 CPU,Kurokami Dialog: GokuBlack Myth: Wukong" and other scenarios were tested, and data was collected using HWiFO64 to collect and record the maximum temperature, and convert the information into graphs for players' reference.

This time, I have also slightly overclocked the memory to see how the 7600X3D performs against the Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 RGB 2X16GB 6800 MT/s. The author finally overclocked to DDR5 8000 MT/s manually, with a read speed of 63,424 MB/s, write speed of 94,172 MB/s, and copy speed of 62,961 MB/s. The latency was 64 ns, with a delay of 64 ns. The read speed is 63424 MB/s, the write speed is 94172 MB/s, the copy speed is 62961 MB/s, and the latency is 64 ns.

Conclusion

In terms of the games that I personally play more often, in the test results with the RTX 4060Ti graphics card, most of the games do not have the game performance advantage of the 7600X3D that greatly exceeds that of other processors, and the only game that has a clear advantage is "The RX 4060Ti", which has a significant advantage over the other processors.Apex LegendsThere is also theHowl of War 6With _Far Cry 6_, the rest of the games just don't seem to have a lot of advantages or differences.

In terms of total average fps, the 7600X3D is 0.5% stronger than the 7600X in the FPS gaming category, and 0.81% weaker than the 7800X3D. In terms of total average fps in the 3A gaming category, which emphasizes on the storyline and graphic performance, the 7600X3D is 5.2% stronger than the 7600X, and 3.9% weaker than the 7800X3D in the 3A gaming test. The 7800X3D is weaker than the 7600X by 5.2%, while the 7800X3D is weaker than the 7800X3D by about 3.9%. Although the difference in the 3A game test is a little bit bigger, the R5 7600X3D loses out to the R9 7900 and the R5 9600X in this comparison, which means that the frequency and the number of cores seem to be more important for the 3A games.

After looking at the tests conducted by other foreign media, the difference between 7800X3D and 7600X3D would be even more obvious if it was paired with RTX 4090, but... who would buy a 60k+ graphics card with a 10k+ processor for their computer?

Temperatures and power consumption are pretty good, and with the AMD Wraith Prism stock Faith Ghost heatsink, it's a pretty good deal in theKurokami Dialog: GokuThe maximum temperature during the gameplay of _Black Myth: Wukong is only 74.8°C and the power consumption is only 67 W. That's why the author said that buying an AMD Wraith Prism online is enough, because it's enough to use with the 7600X3D and it has the original Faith look.

Going back to the less important rendering and professional performance part of the R5 7600X3D, although it is not important for gaming gamers, but still a little bit, as usual, based on the past performance of the 3D V-Cache processor, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D is a little bit weaker than the original Ryzen 5 7600X in both multi-core and single-core scores.
