lian li lancool 217 Infinity Chassis unboxing and design introduction

LIAN LI launched the LANCOOL 217 chassis with solid wood front panel this year, although I didn't open the box, people seemed to like it very much and discussed it. Recently, it launched the LANCOOL 217 Infinity (LANCOOL 217 INF) with a more eye-catching appearance, equipped with a tempered glass opening unlimited mirrors in front of the front panel, and the two large 170 mm fans are replaced with ARGB fans to make the overall style more lively and shocking. The two large 170 mm fans on the front have also been replaced with ARGB fans on the mirrorless axis, making the overall style more lively and shocking.

The LANCOOL 217 INF has a length, width and height of 482 x 238 x 503 mm, and is available in black and white colors. The most attractive part is the front panel, which is equipped with two FDB fans with a diameter of Ø170 mm and a thickness of 30 mm, and the maximum speed is up to 1500 RPM, and the maximum airflow is 142.56 CFM; the maximum air pressure is 3.34 mmH₂O, and the maximum noise level is ≤34.3 dB(A). The maximum airflow is 142.56 CFM; the maximum air pressure is 3.34 mmH₂O and the maximum noise level is ≤34.3 dB(A).

In addition to the infinite mirror ARGB lighting effect on the fan axis, the glass front panel also has infinite mirror ARGB lighting effect on all four sides of the chassis, making the overall style unified and special! Users can set up both lighting effects through the I/O port control buttons on the chassis itself, or use the L-Connect 3 software to control the ARGB color or mode, as well as the speed setting of the front 170 mm fan, in conjunction with the receiver controller of the L-Wireless series products.

△ Lian Li LIAN LI LANCOOL 217 Infinity (LANCOOL 217 INF) White model with case dimensions of 482 x 238 x 503 mm.

Two 170 mm ARGB fans are installed on the glass front panel for air intake. The panel is prone to fingerprints, so we recommend using gloves to transport the case if possible.

The chassis I/O ports are divided into two sections, the factory pre-installed I/O ports on the side panel for connectivity have TRRS composite headphone jacks, 2x USB-A 5Gbps, and USB Type-C 20Gbps. In addition to this, it is also possible to change the location of the connectivity ports to the top side, so you can decide whether you want these slots to be placed on the side of the chassis or the top, depending on your usage. You can decide whether to place these slots on the side or the top of the chassis depending on your usage habits, a feature that is not available on the original wood version of the 217.

On the front of the chassis top cover, there are M1 mirrorless lighting effect front panel control button, power on button, M2 mirrorless fan lighting effect control button, the front panel lighting effect and "front to two 170 mm fan lighting effect" are controlled separately, M1 button controls the front panel lighting effect, M2 button controls the front fan lighting effect, and the chassis itself has 15 kinds of lighting effects that can be set to use.

The rear of the chassis can support a 120 mm fan and a water-cooled exhaust, or a larger 140 mm fan, but a 140 mm diameter and 30 mm thick fan is pre-installed at the factory to remove the waste heat, with a maximum speed of 1900 RPM, and a maximum airflow of 81.3 CFM; the maximum air pressure is 2.4 mmH₂O, and the maximum noise level is ≤ 33.8 dB(A). 33.8 dB(A).

With seven PCIE device mounting positions on the bottom, a reusable baffle and no crossbar design, PCIE slots can be painlessly converted directly into graphics card upright mode by switching the mounting method, and then using additional optional graphics card extension cables to complete the graphics card upright.

The LANCOOL 217 Infinity is a very interesting chassis, although the power supply is mounted underneath the chassis, it supports two power supply orientations at the same time. In addition to the standard mode where the AC slots are facing the rear, this chassis also has a rotary mode where the AC slots are facing towards the side of the glass side panel. The LANCOOL 217 INF is shipped in rotary mode, so the rear side of the case is covered by a bezel. If you want to install the power supply in the standard rear exit mode, just remove the bezel.

△ PCIE device installation position.

△ Demonstration of painless conversion of graphics card to upright mode.

△ LANCOOL 217 Infinity chassis supports bi-directional mounting of the power supply and is equipped with an extractable dust filter at the bottom.

The top of the chassis supports 360 / 280 mm fan and water cooler installation, but the total thickness is limited to ≤85 mm. The entire top cover is fixed by a latch and can be wrenched upward, and the entire fan bracket can be removed and lifted up, making it easy to install the top water cooler and the fan.

LIAN LI LANCOOL 217 Infinity Chassis Internal Structure and Hardware Installation Space Analysis

The LIAN LI LANCOOL 217 INF supports SSI-EEB (up to 330 mm wide), E-ATX (up to 280 mm wide), ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX sizes, as well as the recently emerging ATX and Micro-ATX motherboards. E-ATX and SSI-EEB motherboards can also be installed, regardless of the consumer flagship model or the E-ATX size of HEDT motherboards, or the SSI-EEB motherboards used in workstation motherboards. However, when installing E-ATX and SSI-EEB motherboards in this chassis, it is necessary to adjust the cable shielding baffle or install the copper post according to the manual in order to secure them in place.

The air-cooled radiator is compatible up to 180 mm in height and up to 380 mm in length for graphics card mounting, leaving plenty of room for air-cooling and graphics card mounting on the flagship model, and a graphics card support bracket is included for direct insertion of the graphics card.

The chassis is pre-installed with a total of three ARGB fans in the front and one in the back to provide sufficient cooling performance. The two FDB fans in the front with a diameter of Ø170 mm and a thickness of 30 mm can reach a maximum speed of 1500 RPM and boast a maximum airflow of 142.56 CFM; the maximum air pressure is 3.34 mmH₂O, and the maximum noise level is ≤34.3 dB(A); and the pre-installed FDB fan in the back with a diameter of Ø140 mm and a thickness of 30 mm can reach a maximum speed of 1900 RPM and boast a maximum airflow of 81.3 CFM; the maximum air pressure is 2.4 mmH₂O; the maximum noise level is ≤34.3 dB(A). Ø 140 mm thickness is also 30 mm, the maximum speed is up to 1900 RPM, the labeled maximum airflow is 81.3 CFM, the maximum air pressure is 2.4 mmH₂O, and the maximum noise level is ≤33.8 dB(A).

△ Supports SSI-EEB (up to 330 mm wide), E-ATX (up to 280 mm wide), ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX sized motherboard installations.

△ Compatible with 180 mm high air-cooled towers and 380 mm long graphics cards.

△ The graphics card holder is included, and the cable mask underneath may need to be adjusted when installing SSI-EEB or E-ATX motherboards.

△ Water-cooling mounting space on top of the motherboard is shown.

The power compartment has a 2.5" drive mounting plate by default, and by full default three 2.5" drives can be mounted in this location, but if removed there are fan brackets for up to three 120 mm fans.

There are two modes of fan mounting in the power compartment, one is on top of the bracket. The top mode allows for up to three fans to be mounted, but it does not allow for the mounting of the native graphics card uprights, and it does slightly block the lower edge of the ATX motherboard.

In the lower mounting mode of the bracket, only two fans can be installed, the space above the power supply can not be installed fans, so only two positions above the hard disk bracket can be installed, and the installation of these two fans at the same time, the overall fan mounting position will need to be shifted to the right a little bit (in the direction of the front fan), and also need to be used with the accessories with the installation.

△ The power compartment comes with a 2.5" hard disk mounting plate by default.

△ In addition to hard drives, up to three 120 mm fans can be installed (above bracket mounting mode demonstrated), but mounting above the bracket will cover the lower edge of the ATX motherboard, which can be coordinated through the quick release structure.

The back of the motherboard uses steel side panels with ventilation grills at the bottom of the same glass side panels for air intake at the power compartment fan mounting location.

The LIAN LI LANCOOL 217 Infinity has a special fan HUB for the three fans that come with it. The three built-in fans all use special connectors, so you need to use this controller in order to turn out the PWM and 5V 3-Pin ARGB connectors to connect to the motherboard for setup.

This special fan HUB also has built-in wireless connectivity if gamers have purchased it. LIAN LI UNI FAN SL-INF Wireless 120 With the L-Connect 3 software, you can control the ARGB colors and modes as well as the fan speed settings by using the L-Connect 3 Wireless Controller in the 3-pack, etc. However, the author would like to see a USB 2.0 connector provided with the HUB, so that the HUB can be used as a L-Connect 3 Wireless Controller to synchronize the wireless connection with other L-Connect 3 products. Wireless controller to synchronize with other Lian Li Wireless products, so that consumers do not have to prepare or purchase additional products.

△ Built-in fan special HUB, can not be expanded to install more fans, belong to the chassis standard fan dedicated.

△ Specialty HUB requires a SATA power supply, and an additional regular PWM and 5V 3-Pin ARGB connector to connect to the motherboard.

△ When used with the L-Wireless controller included with other wireless products, the chassis fan, code 217 INF3, can be recognized in the software.

△ You can set the lighting effect and fan speed via software.

There are two 2.5" HDD mounting plates on the rear of the motherboard, however, if you want to install a Micro-ATX backplane motherboard, you can only install one 2.5" HDD mounting plate, and the plate must be rotated 90 degrees.

There are a total of two hard drive bays in the power compartment, each with a 2.5 or 3.5-inch composite mount on top, a 3.5-inch hard drive on top of the tray, and a 2.5-inch hard drive on the bottom of the tray. That means that each hard drive bay can have a composite mount, a 3.5-inch mount, and a 2.5-inch mount installed in it from top to bottom, for a total of three hard drives stacked in a toasted sandwich fashion. Sandwich-style stacking of three drives, and two drive bays can hold up to six drives.

△ Two 2.5-inch mounting hard disk trays on the rear of the motherboard.

△ Two sets of power-cabin drive mounts, each of which can hold one composite (2.5 or 3.5-inch), one 3.5-inch, and one 2.5-inch drive.

The LANCOOL 217 INF's power supply is mounted in a special location, supporting both standard rear exit mode and rotary mode. The factory default is to use the rotary mode, which requires the use of AC extension cables inside the chassis, with the power supply vents facing towards the glass side panel, and the module slots facing towards the entire cable side.

In terms of cables, I would recommend using the default rotary mounting mode, although it only supports ATX 180 mm power supply installation, and the compatible power supply length is not as much as the standard rear exit mode ATX 220 mm, but the cable routing will be more convenient, especially for the CPU power supply cables.

△ The chassis power supply supports two power installation modes, ATX 220 mm for standard rear exit mode and ATX 180 mm for swivel mode.

Accessories provided: Chassis I/O Replacement Cover, Power Bay Lower Fan Mounting Bracket, Power Bay Display Card Upright Mounting Replacement Bezel, Screws, Disposable Cable Ties.

The Chassis I/O Replacement Shield is used to cover the chassis I/O ports in the default position for aesthetic effect when changing the position of the ports.

When mounting fans in the lower power compartment, this bracket needs to be mounted close to the front fan so that the entire fan mounting position can be offset forward in order to mount two 120 mm fans in the lower power compartment fan mounting bracket in this mounting situation.

The Power Bay Graphics Card Upright Installation Replacement Bezel is an expansion bezel that allows you to install both the graphics card upright cable and the power bay fan when the fan is installed on the lower level of the power bay and you want to match the chassis' native graphics card upright mounting mode.

Conclusion|LANCOOL 217 Infinity Case and SX1000P Power Supply Unboxing Tips

The actual unboxing and installation of Lian Li LANCOOL 217 Infinity (LANCOOL 217 INF) chassis, with its glass front panel and three fans inside the chassis, all with built-in wireless mirrors, the overall visual style is totally different from the previous 217, which can be said that it is prepared for a completely different taste of the customers.

Also different from the original version is the new modular I/O design, which allows users to arrange the placement of the chassis I/O ports according to the two different usage heights, desktop or under the table, to better match the usage habits.

The I/O can directly control the front panel and the three included fans, and the built-in HUB can be customized through the L-Connect 3 software when paired with the L-Wireless controller. However, I personally would have preferred that the HUB itself can be used as an L-Wireless controller, which is a bit more convenient in terms of wiring and usage.
