HYTE Y60 Chassis Unboxing

iBUYPOWER's sister brand, HYTE, released the three-sided panoramic glass case Y60 in 2022, and HYTE has since collaborated with hololive on a number of co-branded cases. iBUYPOWER is obviously a Taiwanese company, but HYTE has been reluctant to sell its cases in Taiwan, as it operates in Europe, the United States and Canada, with Hong Kong and Japan being the only places to buy the Y60 case in the Asia Pacific region. HYTE mainly operates in Europe, the United States and Canada, and only Hong Kong and Japan are available in the Asia-Pacific region, so gamers will have to cross the ocean to buy Y60 cases from Taiwan before July.

In July of this year, DLT finally represented HYTE, and began to sell in the original price of the house and Xinya and other sales channels, and with the official website of the United States dollar price is about the same and there is no ghost island tax price hike, in fact, the Y60 author from the beginning is quite interested, but heard that my friends from the official website to order to go through the collection of shipping and tax was charged a total of more than 12,000 yuan after I was .... But now that I can finally buy one in Taiwan, it's a great deal!

The HYTE Y60 is characterized by the use of three panoramic glass panels to form a corner display window arrangement, which allows you to see the rear fan and PCIe mounting locations directly from the front.

The sides of the chassis also have full-transparency glass, which is stabilized by grooves and tenons, and then secured by hand screws. The other two sides of the glass are also secured by screws, but the screws are designed to be quite difficult to remove, and removing the other two glass panels is not necessary during the installation process.

On the other side of the chassis, there are large L-shaped air intake holes in the steel side panels, and a plastic dust filter at the bottom of the chassis, but there is no way to remove the dust filter alone, so the author suggests using a dry cloth to clean it after using it for a period of time.

The cable storage space at the rear of the chassis is about 8.8~9 cm deep, and the accessory cartridge is fixed to the Y60's only HDD mounting bracket, which can support up to two 3.5-inch or four 2.5-inch HDDs.

The ∆ hard drive mounting location can hold either two 3.5-inch or four 2.5-inch drives.

The bottom of the chassis is designed with padded feet to allow sufficient air intake for the two fans underneath. HYTE comes with two 1300 RPM 12 cm fans pre-installed, and the bottom of the chassis supports two 12 / 14 cm mounts.

The upper part of the chassis is equipped with large ventilation holes for sufficient cooling space, and there is a non-removable dust filter underneath the top cover to prevent small objects from entering the chassis. The price of change HYTE Y60 chassis hardware installation space

The Y60 supports E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX motherboards, as well as 160 mm air-cooled towers and 375 mm graphics card mounting space, and ships with a half-height PCIe 4.0 x16 graphics card extension cable, so gamers don't need to buy another one, but the relative cost will be included.

The default mounting position of the graphics card is upright, and is compatible with cards up to 375 mm in length and 75 mm in thickness. However, it is recommended that the thickness of the 3_Slot bezel be no more than 60 mm, so as to allow sufficient space for heat dissipation between the graphics card and the glass side panels.

A lightless 12 cm fan is pre-installed at the rear of the ∆, with space for water-cooling installation above.

The fan mounting positions of the Y60 are top, bottom, side and rear, and the bottom and rear are pre-installed with intake and exhaust fans respectively, while the side can also be installed with two 12/14 cm fans or 240 or 280 mm water coolers, but if the water cooler exhausts and the fans are too thick, it will affect the space for the graphic card to be mounted.

I don't care I just want to show it off! HYTE Y60 chassis actual installation demonstration

This time, I also installed the HYTE Y60 chassis, but since I'm really busy lately, I'm not going to test the cooling performance, but I'd like to share some tips with you, if you want to install the top-mounted water-cooling on the Y60, there are a lot of places you need to put up with, so if you want to save more trouble and have a friendlier installing experience, the author suggests installing a 240 or 280 water-cooler on the side.

∆ The water cooler needs to be removed from the fan mounting bracket so that the water cooling tubes can pass through before locking the cooler and the fan.

Summary & Insights

The HYTE Y60 chassis has a unique look with three panoramic glass panels, but it is still a dual-cabin structure chassis that is currently on the rise. The fan mounting position provides four directions of air ducts, so if the CPU water cooler is mounted on the side air intake, it allows the CPU and GPU to have their own air intake ducts.

Although the upper fan mounting position can support water cooling installation, the installation of top-mounted water cooling is a bit worse than side-mounted water cooling due to space and chassis constraints, and the pre-installed PCIe 4.0 x16 graphics card extension cable will directly transfer the cost to the price, which is why the Y60 is priced at nearly $6,000, but the Y60 is really suitable for installing a model to match. However, the Y60 is very suitable for mounting and displaying models, and the appearance score is really unique in the market.
