Unlike its predecessor, the MONTECH HyperFlow Silent 360 pursues a quieter look and gives up the ARGB lighting effect for a more understated appearance. Both models use the same solution for the water pump, the only difference is the fan model and water cooling head with or without ARGB.

MONTECH HyperFlow Silent is available in black and white as well as 240 mm and 360 mm sizes, making a total of four models to choose from. I unboxed the MONTECH HyperFlow Silent 240 in black and MONTECH HyperFlow Silent 360 in white at the same time.

Warranty MONTECH has also officially provided a liquid leakage indemnity warranty specification. In addition to the six-year warranty that comes with the water cooler itself, other equipment such as graphics cards and motherboards that are damaged by the water cooler can also be covered during the six-year warranty period of the water cooler.

If the water-cooling unfortunately leaks and causes damage to other equipment, the user must: provide a paper invoice (not handwritten, based on the proposed price), the entire machine to a third party to test and confirm that the water-cooling product defects caused by the damage, the confirmation will be based on the "Monarch Depreciation Compensation Formula": (N - the year of use)/N * invoice price = compensation amount, compensation (N = other damaged product warranty years [such as motherboards (N=year of warranty for other damaged products [e.g. motherboard]).

MONTECH HyperFlow Silent AIO (All In One) water cooler supports Intel LGA 20xx / 1851 / 1700 / 1200 / 115x and AMD AM5 / AM4 / AM3 platforms. After taking out the box, you can see that the lightless MONTECH Metal PRO 12 Silent fan is already pre-installed on the water cooler. Silent fans are pre-installed on the water cooler, which saves users the effort of installing screws, but this direction is more convenient for users who plan to install the water cooler on top of the chassis, but if it's a front-mounted chassis, it will need to be removed and re-installed.

The water cooling head size is 68.8 x 68.8 x 53 mm and the head size is only 53 mm high, so if you are using it with an ITX case, you should pay attention to the height limitations of the case to make sure that it is compatible.

∆ White water cooler head, logo still does not rotate.

∆ MONTECH HyperFlow Silent 240 Outerwear, the black model is really black.

∆ The black model is so black that the cold head ripple pattern is almost invisible to my naked eye.

The maximum speed of the pump is 3100 ±10% RPM, and the cold head only needs to be connected to the PUMP power supply because of the absence of the ARGB lighting effect, which makes the installation of the whole line more convenient!

∆ The water cooler should be connected to the PWM 4-Pin power supply.

∆ The cold head is pre-coated with thermal paste.

The water-cooled exhaust fan is equipped with a light-less MONTECH Metal PRO 12 Silent, with a single fan size of 120 x 120 x 28 mm, a maximum speed of 2200 ± 10% RPM, a maximum airflow of 72.3 CFM, and a maximum air pressure of 3.12 mmH₂O.

The official website states that the maximum fan noise is only 45.18 dB(A) at the 100% speed setting; 57 dB(A) for the ARGB version.

∆ White MONTECH Metal PRO 12 Silent fan.

The dimensions of the ∆ fan are 120 x 120 x 28 mm and the thickness is slightly thicker at 28 mm.

The ∆ fans are pre-installed and wired, requiring only a single 4-Pin PWM to be connected to the motherboard for power.

The other end of the ∆ has a PWM female connector for connecting other case fans.

The 360 mm size water cooler measures 397 x 120 x 27 mm; the 240 mm size water cooler measures 277 x 120 x 27 mm. The thickness of the water cooler is 27 mm compared to the conventional one-piece thin air cooler, and with the 28 mm labeled for the fan, the overall installation will utilize 55 mm of mounting space, and the density of the water cooler is 20 FPI.

The dimensions of the water cooler in the ∆ 360 mm size are 397 x 120 x 27 mm.

The dimensions of the water cooler in the ∆ 240 mm size are 277 x 120 x 27 mm.

MONTECH XR Wood Walnut Grain Unboxing

The MONTECH XR Wood chassis uses American walnut wood to accent the front panel, has four GF120 ARGB PWM fans, and can be fitted with up to 12 fans or 360 mm / 280 mm water cooler exhausts, and is available in black and white (but I'm thinking that the black color would be more suitable for the wood grain).

MONTECH XR Wood Chassis Specifications.

Dimensions: 475 (L) x 230 (W) x 456 (H) mm
Color: Black, White
Material: steel, tempered glass
Motherboard: ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX
CPU air cooling: up to 175 mm
Display card: 420 mm
Power supply: ATX 230 mm
Fan Mounting Positions (Top+Side+Front+Bottom+Rear): 140 mm 2+0+2+0+1, 120 mm 3+2+3+3+1
Water-cooled drain support: 360 mm above, 280 / 240 mm in front, 140 / 120 mm behind
Chassis I/O Ports: 2x USB-A 5Gbps, USB Type-C, HD AUDIO Jack
Hard drives and bays: one 2.5", one 3.5", one 2.5/3.5" combo

The MONTECH XR Wood case measures 475 x 230 x 456 mm, which is the size of a mid-tower case. As I said earlier, if it's a wood-grain theme, I "personally" feel that a black case would match better, so I chose black for the unboxing instead of white.

The front panel of the chassis is decorated with two pieces of American walnut at the top and bottom, the upper one of which is laser-engraved with the MONTECH logo.

The front panel has a full range of holes, allowing the front fan to have enough air intake space to send cool air from the outside to the inside of the chassis.

The dimensions of the ∆ MONTECH XR Wood case are 475 x 230 x 456 mm.

∆ Front panel at a glance.

Three GF120 ARGB PWM fans are pre-installed on the front of the chassis. The front panel of the chassis does not come with pre-installed filters from the factory, but there is a front magnetic filter in the accessory package that allows consumers to use their own.

∆ There is no pre-installed filter on the front panel of the chassis when it is shipped from the factory, but it is given in the accessories.

∆ Demonstration of magnetized filter installation.

The black version of the MONTECH XR Wood is equipped with a matte black glass side panel that effectively reduces the level of RGB glare from the internal hardware, which may be good news for users who prefer a less glaring RGB display, especially since this model comes with a wood grain and a black chassis, which I'm sure those who chose this model would prefer to have a more understated look!

∆ Matte black glass side panels.

∆ is opened directly from the rear beveled corner.

The rear of the chassis supports 120 and 140 mm fans and water coolers, but a 120 mm fan is pre-installed at the factory, so if you want to replace it with a different fan, just consider buying an additional one. Below are seven PCIE device mounting positions with reusable panels, but the position is set up using a horizontal bar, so some of the graphics card racks need to pay attention to compatibility issues. The vertical racks for some graphics cards require attention for compatibility issues.

∆ A view of the rear of the chassis.

The side panel on the back of the motherboard is made of steel, with holes for the side fan to be installed for cooling or air intake, and this side panel is fixed with hand screws at the back, and is equipped with a magnetic dust filter directly inside.

∆ Steel side panels are used on the back.

∆ This side is secured with a hand screw.

∆ With magnetic dust filter.

A 360 mm fan and water cooler can be installed on the top of the chassis, and a full-volume mesh and magnetic filter can effectively dissipate heat and prevent dust from entering the interior.

The I/O slots on the top of the chassis provide a boot button, HDD operation light, power operation light, reset button, 3.5 mm microphone jack, 3.5 mm headphone jack, 2x USB-A 5Gbps, and USB Type-C. Because the I/O ports are located on the top of the chassis, it's more convenient to place this chassis at desktop height to make it more convenient to use.

∆ Magnetic filter on top of the housing.

The MONTECH XR Wood is designed with an under-mounted power supply, and a magnetic filter for the power intake can be seen at the bottom of the chassis, but the chassis has to be flipped upside down to make it easier to access, and there are two adjustable positions for the internal hard drive bays.

MONTECH XR Wood Chassis Core Hardware Installation Space Showcase

The MONTECH XR Wood supports ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX sized motherboards, but not the E-ATX motherboards used in the consumer flagship models. Four GF120 ARGB PWM fans are pre-installed, with three intake fans at the front, and one exhaust fan at the back to direct the chassis cooling airflow.

Two 120 mm fans can be installed on the side of the chassis but no water cooling can be installed, while three 120 mm fans can be installed on the top of the power supply compartment and no water cooling can be installed, which means that up to 12 fans can be installed on the whole chassis, but I personally do not recommend to add more fans to the side mounting position because the whole line will be very hard to install.

The air cooler is compatible with heights up to 175 mm and lengths up to 420 mm for graphics card mounting, leaving plenty of room for high-end air cooling and graphics card mounting.

∆ The chassis is supplied bare.

∆ Supports ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX sized motherboard installations.

∆ The water cooling installation space above the chassis is shown.

Two 120 mm fans can be installed on the ∆ side.

The back of the motherboard is the entire cable space, the depth of space on the back of this chassis is not as deep as that of the Ocean View chassis, the cables in the chassis itself take up a certain amount of space, which is why it is not recommended to add more fans on the side, and the entire cable will be quite painful.

The drive bay mounting location on the back of the motherboard is secured by hand screws and allows for the installation of a 2.5" hard drive.

The lower power bay supports 230 mm long ATX power supply mounting, with a front drive bay for one 3.5" hard drive and a top bay for one 2.5 / 3.5" hard drive.

MONTECH XR Wood, HyperFlow Silent 360, CENTURY II 850W Practical Installation Demonstration

Then we will install the MONTECH XR Wood chassis, HyperFlow Silent 360 all-in-one water cooler, and CENTURY II 850W power supply for your reference.

The ∆ MONTECH HyperFlow Silent 360 is designed to allow the user's water cooling tubes to exit to the right, avoiding conflict with the rear fan installation.

The ∆ chassis with M-ATX motherboard mounted inside shows off the interior space, and there is room for a scenic object next to the graphics card.

∆ The graphics card power cable holes may be a bit awkward for dual-fan graphics cards, and the routing will be diagonal, while triple-fan graphics cards may be more suitable.

∆ The interior light is softer when the glass side panels are covered.

∆ The whole machine is installed for demonstration.

Chassis Thermal Performance Test

Then we also tested the cooling performance of the chassis, with the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor and ASRock B860M Steel Legend WiFi During the test, the fan slot was set to run at full speed in the motherboard BIOS, and the test scenario was a closed air-conditioned room at 24°C. The ambient temperature of a normal room is difficult to control, so it is for reference only.

The software uses AIDA64 FPU and Furmark 2 to simulate the temperature data of the processor and graphics card under high load stress, Black Myth: Wukong 1080P to run the test scenarios, and HWiFO64 to collect and record the maximum temperature and power consumption.

I would like to add a few things to you, the first one is that I have updated the BIOS version of ASRock B860M Steel Legend WiFi to version 1.19, and the rest of the settings: XMP_on, and all the fan slots are set to full speed.

In the separate test program AIDA64 FPU, the processor package temperature peaked at 86 °C, and the RTX 4060 Ti FE graphics card peaked at 64.4 °C in the Furmark 2 test.

The maximum processor and graphics card temperatures during Black Myth: Wukong games are only 55 °C and 57.2 °C respectively.

The MONTECH HyperFlow Silent 360 has a maximum speed of 3200 RPM for the pump and 2536 RPM for the MONTECH Metal PRO 12 Silent fan when running at full speed on the manual BIOS setting.

∆Water-cooled test condition, the water pump is up to 3200 RPM, and the MONTECH Metal PRO 12 Silent fan is 2536 RPM.

Conclusion

This time, we unboxed the MONTECH XR Wood chassis, HyperFlow Silent 360 all-in-one water cooling, CENTURY II 850W power supply, and assembled a MONTECH mainframe to show you.

MONTECH HyperFlow Silent 360 all-in-one water cooler removes the ARGB to bring a more discreet model choice, and boasts a more whisper-quiet fan operation, but on paper, the fan's airflow and pressure are still a little less than that of the ARGB version, and the most important thing is still the price and warranty. This time MONTECH has also formulated a more comprehensive warranty specification on the official website, interested parties can go to the reference.

The CENTURY II 850W power supply is re-certified with Cybenetics PLATINUM and 80 PLUS GOLD certifications, and is ATX 3.1 compliant to bring a more cost-effective power supply model. MONTECH's first ATX 3.0 / ATX 3.1 compliant power supplies in the past were the TITAN GOLD and TITAN PLA series, which may still be relatively expensive for gamers with limited price. MONTECH's first ATX 3.0 / ATX 3.1 compliant power supplies in the past were the TITAN GOLD and TITAN PLA series, which are still a bit expensive for gamers who have limited budgets, so this time they are trying to bring cheaper ATX 3.1 power supplies to the market for choice.

The MONTECH XR Wood is basically the same as the XR in terms of internal structure, but with an additional front fan mounting position and a distinctive walnut front panel decoration. I'm not too impressed with the walnut wood as far as exterior features are concerned, and the fact that each side of the chassis is equipped with a magnetic anti-dust filter is not bad at all, but it's just a pity that the depth of the hidden threads isn't so friendly to the "out-of-sight-out-of-mind" school. The depth of the threads is not so friendly to the "out of sight, out of mind" school.
