World's first inductive shaft Ducky One X tri-mode wireless mechanical keyboard unboxing

Ducky exhibited the world's first inductive shaft mechanical keyboard Ducky One X at the Computex Taipei last year. The inductive shaft is considered a brand new type of shaft, and according to the author's information, it uses the principle of inductance for signal detection. The operation principle is to print a circular coil on the circuit board of the keyboard, and set up a metal sheet within the shaft, and the coil will produce different inductance values due to the movement of the metal sheet when the key is pressed. When pressing the key, the coil will produce different inductance values due to the movement of the metal sheet, in order to measure the travel distance of the key is pressed, but because I personally did not hear Ducky introduced at that time, so I can only share the information in accordance with the Internet, if there is a more professional friends would like to talk about welcome to share in the comments, and by the way, with me to explain the explanation.

The One X is available in two sizes, 100% and 60%, and in two colors, black and white.

The ∆Ducky inductive shaft is called the Ducky AI shaft.

∆ Basic Product Features.

Black 100% full-size version of the Ducky One X mechanical keyboard in the default keycaps, the appearance of the relatively low-profile and not much additional design, you want to make the keyboard more lively visual can be replaced with free keycaps to embellish.

The size of the keyboard is 450 x 145 x 40 mm, the keycaps are made of two-color molded PBT keycaps, and the text part, although marked US English on the outer box, gives the first impression of English engraving, the actual opening reveals that it's a Chinese engraved version of the phonetic and English version, which means that it doesn't have any blanks and uses side engraving for some of the function keys.

There is no official website or user manual for this keyboard, so many functions or information cannot be referenced and can only be judged by actual use.

From the keycaps it looks like it can store four sets of Bluetooth pairing settings, and above the numbered keys from left to right are shortcuts for: calculator, mute, lower volume, and magnify volume.

∆ note plus English PBT keycaps, some combination function keys have side-engraved markings.

∆ Boxed in a dust-proof blister.

The Ducky AI shaft used in this keyboard is said to be a Cherry MX Multipoin. According to last year's report, Cherry was planning to develop three types of linear axes such as black, cyan, and silver in the MX Multipoint mechanical axes, but the actual Ducky One X looks yellow, maybe Ducky adjusted the color by itself. Maybe it's Ducky's idea to customize the color of the axes?

The ∆ Ducky inductive shaft (Ducky AI shaft) uses a cross shaft.

The Ducky One X comes with a tilt angle and two additional height support feet to allow the user to decide for themselves.

Ducky One X has three connection modes: USB Type-C wired connection, Bluetooth wireless connection, and 2.4GHz wireless connection, which is also known as tri-mode keyboard. The switch for the three modes and the connection ports are located at the top left corner of the keyboard, and the receiver for 2.4GHz wireless connection is also included here.

Extra accessories are provided with Year of the Dragon PBT keycaps, Ducky mascot brush, key puller, USB Type-C cable, and USB-C adapter A. The USB-C adapter A is also provided with the Ducky mascot brush.

Conclusion

The actual experience of using this keyboard, mainly for this new "inductive shaft" actual feel in the end feel curious, after all, is a new axis design, the actual feel of the keyboard is still linear feel, but the finger pressure required force and feedback is a bit heavier (compared to the red shaft), if you like the linear feel of the majority of users should be quite like, but if you like the feeling of a light and fast feel (such as silver or red shaft) may take about half a day to get used to it a little bit. (However, if you prefer a lighter feel (e.g. Silver or Red), it may take about half a day to get used to it.

The biggest advantage of Ducky One X besides the feel is the sound, as you can feel in the video above, the keyboard is not too loud when you actually use it, I personally think that it has a good balance between the feel and the sound, and it should not be too noisy when you use it in the office, but the weight of this keyboard is a bit heavy, I don't know how about the weight of the 60%.

There's just one small thing that's a little bit concerning, and that's that the lighting effect on the keyboard itself is a little bit darker on some of the buttons, such as the Pause and Cal buttons in the movie, so I hope Ducky can improve on this issue.
