LIAN LI O11 DYNAMIC MINI V2(O11D MINI V2) Chassis Unboxing

In early 2021, LIAN LI launched the O11 DYNAMIC MINI (O11D MINI), the first Small Case/Mid-Tower Case size in the O11 DYNAMIC series, and a derivative in late 2021. O11 AIR MINIIn the blink of an eye, four years have gone by, and on LIAN LI 2025 Digital Expo Announcing the release of the successor model O11 DYNAMIC MINI V2 (O11D MINI V2).

The dimensions of the O11 Dynamic Mini (O11D Mini V2) are 423.6 x 273.3 x 391.95 mm (45L), which is not much different from the first generation's 420 x 269.5 x 380 mm.

The ∆ side glass is held in place by a rear hand screw and can be opened with the aid of a toggle. A magnet is provided at the side panel to assist in fixing it by means of magnetic attraction.

The O11D MINI V2 is tilted a bit from the front because the bottom fan mounting bracket is tilted 10 degrees.

By default, there is a chassis I/O port at the bottom of the front panel, which provides TRRS composite headphone jack, 2x USB-A 5 Gbps, USB Type-C 20 Gbps, and a power on button. The chassis I/O of the O11 DYNAMIC MINI V2 is modular in design, and the whole set of I/Os can be switched to the top of the chassis, which can be changed according to the different usage scenarios. However, considering the display effect of this case, most people will put the case on the desktop, so it's more convenient to preset it at the bottom of the front.

The author is interested in the previous generation of O11D MINI and its derivatives. O11 AIR MINIO11 DYNAMIC MINI V2 (O11D MINI V2) has the most impressive modular rear panel block, but it seems that O11 DYNAMIC MINI V2 (O11D MINI V2) removes this feature, and instead, it uses a simpler dual-brass post mounting position with variable I/O masking configurations to realize the M-ATX motherboard downward mounting to obtain more space for upward water-cooling installation, although it is said to be more efficient in the process of change, but it seems less interesting. Although the efficiency of the change process is better, the fun factor seems to be reduced. Maybe it's because apart from M-ATX, other ATX and ITX don't need so many changeable modules.

The rear of the chassis supports 120 mm fan mounting, while the bottom has five PCIE device mounting positions with reusable baffles and no crossbar, and the bottom of the chassis is equipped with a rear extractable filter to minimize the dust intake from the lower fan position, which can be extracted separately for cleaning after a period of use.

The current generation of O11 DYNAMIC MINI V2 (O11D MINI V2) supports ATX-sized power supplies. The previous generation's restriction to only SFX-L / SFX-sized power supplies led to some reaction in the market, but we haven't seen similar restriction from LIAN LI on the O11 DYNAMIC series since then.

Below the power supply mounting location is the composite drive bay mounting area, which is secured by hand screws with rubber pads and screws.

The back side of the motherboard uses steel side panels, and because the O11 DYNAMIC MINI V2 (O11D MINI V2) is a DUAL CHAMBER DESIGN dual-cabin chassis, there are air intake holes for the power supply and the side fans, but the special thing is that there is a filter underneath the side fan grille, but it is not removable separately. This part is not removable, so the whole side panel has to be taken out for cleaning.

LIAN LI O11 Dynamic Mini(O11D Mini V2) Chassis Core Hardware Installation Space Showcase

O11 DYNAMIC MINI V2 (O11D MINI V2) supports ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX size motherboards, but not the E-ATX motherboards used in the consumer flagship models, and the recent ATX (back-plugged) motherboards can be supported; the smaller back-plugged Micro-ATX motherboards are not supported. The O11 DYNAMIC series can be equipped with the UNIFAN series fans that you want to use, in line with the O11 DYNAMIC series style.

With the glass side panels removed, you can see that the new generation V2 version has an A-pillar-less 270° surround design, meaning that there are no steel pillars between the front and side glass panels to block the view.

There are pre-installed graphics card holders on the side of the chassis that can be used, but basically only three fan lengths should be supported, and up to nine 12 cm fans can be mounted throughout the entire chassis, on the side, top, back, and bottom of the chassis respectively.

The air cooler is compatible with a height of 160 mm and a length of up to 400 mm for graphics card mounting, leaving plenty of room for mainstream air coolers and flagship graphics cards, while the air cooler has a slightly lower compatible height, but most people use this case with water cooling, so it should be unlikely that anyone will use it with air cooling.

∆The chassis itself does not have a pre-installed fan, you need to purchase your own fan to match the chassis.

∆Maximum support for rear-plug ATX motherboards, 160 mm air-cooled towers, 400 mm graphics cards, nine 120 mm fans.

∆The cable routing holes for the 24-Pin power supply cables of the motherboard are paired with placement brackets.

∆Pre-installed inline graphics card support bracket, fixed by hand screws can be adjusted left, right and height.

∆ For a graphics card with a width that does not go over the shoulder, the maximum bending space of the power supply cable of the graphics card is about 6 cm (for over-the-shoulder cards, the extra width will be deducted).

By factory default, the motherboard copper columns support ATX/M-ATX/ITX motherboards, but the top water cooling above the chassis can only support 360 mm all-in-one water cooling. The overall thickness of the water cooling must be ≤ 72 mm for ATX motherboards and ≤ 92 mm for M-ATX motherboards in this mode. In this default mode, the overall thickness of the watercooler must be ≤ 72 mm for ATX motherboards and ≤ 92 mm for M-ATX motherboards.

If you want to install the wider 280 mm all-in-one water cooler, you have to move the motherboard copper columns downward so that the mounting mode becomes the downward locking hole mounting mode, but then the motherboard can only support Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX installation, and the ATX does not support this downward locking hole mounting mode, which means that the ATX motherboard and 280 mm all-in-one water cooler cannot be mounted together at the same time in this chassis. This means that the ATX motherboard and the 280 mm all-in-one water cooler cannot be installed at the same time in this chassis, and can only be installed with Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX.

Another thing to note! If the motherboard is used in the default upward mounting mode, the first slot of the motherboard corresponds to the rear of the chassis, which means that the motherboard itself must have the graphics card slot at the height of the second slot in order to use the motherboard in the upward mounting mode, e.g., the motherboards that have been out of the box before. ASRock B860M Steel Legend WiFi In this case, if the M-ATX motherboard has its graphics card expansion slot set at the first slot height, the chassis must be replaced with a lower mounting mode, while the ATX motherboard must be used with the graphics card in an upright position.

The default mounting mode of ∆ is the top mounting hole, if you want to install with 280 mm water cooler, you need to change the copper column to the bottom mounting hole, so that there is more space for the top mounting space of the water cooler.

The O11D MINI V2's side fan bracket can be used to mount two 120 mm fans or a 240 mm water cooler exhaust. The bracket itself is not removable, but it comes with two fan stoppers, which are detachable and can be adjusted according to the mounting requirements.

240 mm fan and water cooling can be installed on the ∆ side, and the top and bottom are modular removable fan shields.

LIAN LI O11 DYNAMIC MINI V2 (O11D MINI V2) can be equipped with either three 120 mm/two 140 mm fans or a 360 mm all-in-one water cooler on the top of the chassis, or with a wider 280 mm water cooler, which can be adjusted to the aforementioned M-ATX motherboard and top-mounted locking holes installation mode. For use with a wider 280 mm water cooler, the M-ATX motherboard with top mounting holes should be adjusted as mentioned above.

The mounting bracket on top of the chassis is a detachable design, secured by a total of five screws in three directions. After removing the screws, the bracket can be dismantled to install the water cooler and fan.

∆ Water cooling installation space on the chassis.

The ∆ ceiling height is about 4 cm, which makes the hamburger row mounting method incompatible with a 280 mm monobloc water cooler, while a normal width 360 / 240 mm water cooler may still be able to be hamburger row mounted.

∆ Fixing screws on the front of the upper fan bracket.

∆ Upper fan bracket side mounting screws.

The bottom fan mounting bracket is tilted 10° upwards to increase the air intake from the right side of the bottom. The bottom fan mounting bracket allows for the installation of three 120 mm fans blowing directly on the graphics card to improve GPU cooling performance, but because of the tilted angle the total thickness of the water cooler and fans would hit the glass if installed, so it is not possible to install water coolers.

The O11 DYNAMIC MINI V2 (O11D MINI V2) supports ATX power supply mounting, however, the mounting bracket should be removed from the rear, the bracket should be locked with the power supply, and then mounted back to the chassis body. 170.5 mm of mounting space is supported by default; 200 mm of mounting space is supported by removing the SSD cable shield. The SSD cable shield can be removed to support up to 200 mm of power supply mounting space.

Underneath the power supply are two composite drive cages, each of which can hold a 2.5 or 3.5-inch hard drive. The composite drive cages have a special way of opening and closing and are secured in place, so it is recommended that you refer to the manual first.

∆ With the SSD cable shield removed, it can support up to 200 mm of power supply mounting, giving you nearly 230 mm of cable space.

Chassis Thermal Performance Test

Then we also tested the cooling performance of the chassis, with the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor and ASRock Z890 Taichi OCF During the test, the fan slot was set to run at full speed in the motherboard BIOS, and the actual test was conducted in a closed air-conditioned room at 23°C. This is for reference only, as it is difficult to control the ambient temperature in a normal room.

The software uses AIDA64 FPU and Furmark 2 to simulate the temperature data of the processor and graphics card under high load stress, Black Myth: Wukong 1080P to run the test scenarios, and HWiFO64 to collect and record the maximum temperature and power consumption.

Conclusion

LIAN LI's new generation of O11 DYNAMIC MINI V2 (O11D MINI V2) chassis has finally been updated four years after the launch of its predecessor. Overall, there is not much difference between the previous generation and the new generation, especially in the expandability section, which is almost the same size and volume, and there is really very little that can be changed.

The chassis is still the same smaller dual-cabin Ocean View chassis, but there are some minor updates to make the chassis more in line with the needs of 2025, such as removing the A-pillar for a 270° display, removable fan mounting brackets for the upper and lower sections, better cable planning, ATX power support, modular I/O ports, and more efficient M-ATX top-mounted water-cooling mounting pattern changes, Coils for chassis bottom routing, included inline and vertical graphics card brackets, fan blade for airflow planning, included vertical graphics card bracket, and more.

However, the problems encountered in the actual installation are similar to those of the previous generation, because of the height limitation of the chassis, the top-mounted water cooler can easily be mounted too close to the motherboard VRM heat sinks, and the compatibility with the wider 280 mm water cooler is still not so comprehensive (but there are not many 280 mm water coolers anymore, including Lian-Li's own as well), and the cables underneath basically can't pass through the motherboard after it is installed. After the motherboard is mounted, the cables underneath will basically not be able to pass through the motherboard, and must be routed before the motherboard is mounted. If you don't want to dismantle the motherboard afterwards, you may have to rely on the bottom of the chassis to route the cables with a wire loop.

When using the Strimer Wireless (PW16-12 1W) with a shorter 4060Ti FE, the Strimer Wireless cable alignment will be a bit awkward due to the alignment coils being set to the right side of the motherboard, but this should not be the case if you are using a longer 3-fan sized card. However, if you're using a longer graphics card with three fans, this should be less of an issue since the graphics card power supply slots are closer to the cable routing coils.

This time with the ATX motherboard to install after the experience that this chassis will be more suitable for M-ATX motherboards to install, ATX motherboards are too unfriendly to the bottom of the slot cable installation, and ATX motherboards may not be able to use the bottom of the PCIE slot expansion (according to the configuration of the motherboard model height is not necessarily), in conclusion, most of the inconvenience is the height of the chassis itself limitations! In conclusion, most of the inconvenience is caused by the height limitation of the chassis itself.

From the author's point of view, O11D MINI V2 has less interesting playability, for example, the modularized rear panel area with three modes of change and the included tank rack accessory have been removed, although I don't necessarily use it, but it is a bit of a loss to lose these interesting designs, and instead, it has been updated to be more in line with modern practicality, and it feels like that fun childhood friend who has become a mature and reliable adult by the time you see her again. It's like that fun childhood friend who, when you meet again, has become a mature, reliable adult.
